Overburn
A racing prototype about keeping an overpowered hovercraft under control.

Overburn is about driving something with more power than you can comfortably handle. You skim above the track, carry momentum into corners, and decide when the extra speed is worth the heat.
It started as a handling experiment in Godot and grew into an eight-racer prototype. The current course has alternate routes, narrow sections, and rivals that can knock you off your line.
I’m still working on the feel: finding room to pass, recovering from a bad corner, and making the machine satisfying to control.
It has to feel good to drive.
Tests help explain what the vehicle is doing. Playing it is how I decide whether it’s fun.
- Momentum and heat
- The craft hovers just above the track. Extra thrust builds heat, so speed comes with a tradeoff.
- Rivals on the track
- Seven other racers share the same vehicle physics. Passing means finding room and dealing with contact.
- Race your best run
- A recorded ghost lets you compare your next attempt with your best lap from the session.
The eight-racer build is playable. Race behavior and performance still need work.
